Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Washington's My Health My Data Act asks any business that holds information which could show a pregnancy to say plainly what it holds and what it does with it. A scan can show a pregnancy, so this is ours.

What this covers

Information that could show something about a person's health. For First Likeness that means one thing: a scan, the details you type about it, and the keepsake made from it can show that someone is or was expecting.

What we collect

  • The 3D image data made from your scan in your browser, with the patient details removed, the edits you make and the finished 3D model. Never the original scan file, unless you choose to send it to us when the studio cannot open it; a file you send may carry the patient's details, and we treat it that way.
  • What you type in the studio: a name, a due date or birth date, the weeks at the scan, and a note.
  • What you put on a family page or a keepsake page, such as a first name, words and pictures.
  • What you write to us from the contact page or by email, and our replies, if you choose to tell us about a pregnancy or a scan in it.
  • The studio your account is linked to, if any.

We do not ask for medical history, and we get nothing from your care team.

Why we collect it

To make, show and deliver the keepsake you ask for, to look into a file you send us, and to answer you when you write to us. We use it for nothing else unless you say yes to that separately, such as helping us improve how we find and show faces, which you can take back at any time.

Where it comes from

From you, from a partner you invite into your family account, or from a studio that made a piece for you.

Who we share it with

  • A hosting provider, a database provider and a file storage service, which run the site and keep your account and its files for us.
  • An email delivery service, which sends our emails and receives your replies to our support emails. The email a studio gets when you add a scan names you, never the scan.
  • A print partner. A price check sends it the finished model and nothing else. An order also sends the recipient's name and shipping address. Never the 3D image data.
  • A payment processor, which takes a payment and receives the name and shipping address with an order. Never the 3D image data.
  • A computing provider, if we make a print file on our own servers: after you pay, it receives the 3D image data and the piece's saved details to make the file.
  • An AI service, which helps our staff read and answer messages, review requests to join and look into problems with the site. It can see a message you send us, your request to join and the details saved in your account while it does.
  • The studio your account is linked to, which sees the pieces it made for you and how many public pages you have and how often they are viewed, and a partner you invite, who shares your family account.
  • Anyone with the link to a keepsake page you make public. Its portrait in 3D is drawn in their browser from the piece's 3D image data, with the patient details removed, so that image data is published with the page until you make it private.

Each service provider receives only what its job needs and uses it only for that job.

We never sell it

We do not sell this information, and we do not share it for any other purpose without your separate permission.

Your rights

  • Find out whether we hold this information about you, and see it: your account page has Download my data.
  • Get a list of every company and studio we have shared it with: ask us through the contact page.
  • Take back your permission at any time: make a page private, or take back a yes, from your account page.
  • Have it deleted: your account page has Delete my account. Our database provider's backups cannot be edited, so a copy stays in them until they age out on the provider's schedule, and if one is ever restored we delete your account again before it is used.

We answer every request about your data within 45 days. If we turn one down, or you think we got it wrong, write to us and ask us to look again; we will answer that within 45 days too.
